Christmas comes early

Well after months of planning, and much purchasing, Alex (our lodger) and I spent Saturday putting up Christmas lights. when I say saturday, I do actually mean all day, we started at 10:00 in the midst of a thunderstorm, our first job was unpackign 13 sets of lights, and wrapping all the controllers in sandwich bags and and ducktape. I then proceeded to try and understand the plan in Alex’s head failing that we wandered out in the down pour and looked lovingly at some bushes and trees, at least the ones we could see through the rain. Actually the rain only lasted the morning and then we really went to business.

Why months of planning I can hear you ask, WELL, Alex being the computer genious that he is has designed and built a system where by YOU yes YOU the general public can view our lights over the web. In fact it gets better than that, I know HOW!! I can hear you ask, well you can also controll then over the internet. Seriously I am not kiddling the grand opening will be on friday 1st December……

WOO HOO CAR CAR CAR CAR CAR WOO HOO

OKay so it has been like a month, kinda forgot about this blog already!

SOOO in October we managed to buy a new car, very nice, enjoyign it so far, will get a picture up here at some point soon. Cut a long storey short, GOD is flipping amazing, having no salleries to do what we do, we weren’t entirely sure how we were going to afford a car, then someone from another church heard abotu the situation and decided to chat to a few folks and get a donatoin togheter. That in its self was pretty amazing, but it gets better. Ali and I were talking abtou what car we need, and what car we want, knowing they are often differnet, and I was like, well an estate to move all the gear around like I do, Ali was like all I would like is soem nice wood trim. I was liek a stereo is a must have, cos I hate driving without it, and as Ali doesn’t drive I need to do all the driving. SO we start hunting for cars, decided to wipe out our go to Canada in Dec 07 fund to buy a car. I call like 5 people all sold, finally find this car online and go see it, a little more money than i had to spend and took it for a test drive. It was a vectra estate, nice and big, after a bit of haggling I put a deposit down. Very relived to have done so. Finally get back on our feet again. pick the car up a week later havign fought with insurance companies, and popped into work to check my emails and find that this car that has CD player, air con, loots of room, wood trim, the donation had come in and was TO THE POUND exactly how much the car was. NOW tell me GOD isn’t awesome!! TO THE POUND!!!!!!

This last week has been an utterly crazy week. The other guy from the car crash is trying to blame ME for the crash, so the insurance claim is simply dragging on for ever, although the courtesy car is nice ( I mean NICE) I would rather get it all sorted and got on with life again. That has been frustrating.

On the VERY cool side, our church hired in Thebandwithnoname to do a weeks school outreach in Risborough. They were staying at Wycliffe so I got to hang out with them a bit and also managed to shoot a video interview with them which was an absolute blast. They are very normal yet quite extraordinary guys.

Chip K the dude with the megaphone did an appeal right at the end of the Gig on Friday night, and there was like 100 or so kids who went out he back for counseling having made some sort of commitment. Who knows what is really going on in their hearts except God but it was incredible to have been part of see God do so much in one of our local towns. My part in the gig involved re-plugging the speakers cabs with Alex, getting water and everything else for the band back stage, sweeping broken light bulbs of the stage during the DJ set, and mopping sweat of the stage inbetween tracks, not quite what I had imagined doing, but classy all the same. Not sure I want to hand in my notice and become a roadie, but I was offered a job…… as a traveling pastor… not sure that is my thing either!
